East Boston Community News is first published.

The bi-weekly paper is an outgrowth of the East Boston Newsletter, which was published in September and October 1970 by a an OEO-funded program called Impact, and was founded by a collective of volunteers so that it could be free to publish more politically-oriented material. Peter Werwath is the first editor.
